Scientific Background
Amiodarone is a non-selective ion channel blocker. It has been found, when used in Saccharomyces cerevisiae, to induce an influx of Ca2+ followed by mitochondrial fragmentation and subsequent cell death. Amiodarone has also been shown to induce autophagy by inhibiting mTORC1. Lastly, Amiodarone has broad-spectrum fungicidal activity.
