Scientific Background Epothilone are a new class of cancer drugs. They prevent cancer cells from dividing by interfering with tubulin (1). Epithilone B possess the same biological effects as paclitaxel in both invitro and cultured cells, because they share the same binding site (2). Epothilone has also been shown to induce tubulin polymerization into microtubules without the presence of GTP. And it also causes cell cycle arrest at the G2-M transition phase, leading to eventual cell apoptosis (3).
