Scientific Background N,N-dimethylsphingosine is a potent and specific inhibitor of sphingosine kinase. It is a natural metabolite of sphiongosine in some cancel cell lines and tissues (1). It also induces apoptosis, but it is not an inhibitor of protein kinase C (2).
